Our Valentine's Day

Our Valentine's Day began with the traditional shows of affection (Heaven help our poor daughter)...
...and ended with making playdough. For their Valentine's Day party, one of the girls in Clayton's class gave all the kids homemade heart shaped playdough (cute idea). Anyway, Clayton loved it and played with it a lot. Well, it had gotten left out. Clayton was crushed that his beloved heart shaped playdough was ruined so I told him that we could make more. I had never made playdough before but it was really easy, really fun, and one batch made a TON! Clayton loved helping out. It was a really good Valentine's project for us!
Clayton loved mixing all the ingredients and stirring. He usually runs the opposite way when I ask him to help me cook, so it was fun that he actually wanted to do this with me!
After we had made our playdough, Uncle Rick came over and he and Clayton played together for a while. Uncle Rick showed Clayton how to make a playdough person. Here is Clayton with his playdough person (whose name is also Clayton).
After his playdough 'Clayton' was finished Clayton decided to make a playdough 'Noah'. By this time though, Uncle Rick was done helping. Can you tell which one Clayton made by himself (I think they're both pretty cute though)? Noah liked playing with the playdough too! He initially wanted to eat it, but after one taste he was content to keep it out of his mouth (it's mostly flour and salt - yum). This picture is a little blurry, but he looks so grown up here! I can't believe that he will only be my baby for another two months!!
Finally, a shout out to Justin for the best Valentine's Day present ever (even though it was a day late). Those of you who know Justin well are thinking, 'hey, he doesn't celebrate VD, he didn't get you a gift!'. Well, no, technically the gift was non-VD related, but it was still an awesome display of how much he loves me so I'm counting it!!
We sleep with four pillows on our bed. One under each of our heads, one in-between my knees (this is only a pregnancy thing - I usually don't need one there), and one that we affectionately call, 'the Berlin Wall'. We aren't big cuddlers and we both like our seperate space when we sleep so the pillow in between us helps us to each stick to our own sides. However, the 'Wall' is technically Justin's pillow and he usually ends up sleeping on it somehow. Lately, however, I have liked having this pillow up against my back as support. It's nice to have something to balance out the belly. Justin isn't a fan of this and usually takes it back (hey, it's his pillow, right?). The other night though, he LET ME HAVE IT!!!! I lay in bed waiting for him to take it like always, but he didn't - on purpose!! Honestly, it felt so good to be able to sleep with it all night long!! The following night he decided that he wanted his 'Wall' back, but instead of just taking it, he replaced it with another pillow! So now I have my very own pillow to sleep against! We now have five pillows in our bed. It's a lot, but we need them all! Thanks Justin, that was a really nice thing for you to do and the baby and I appreciate it!!

Sounds like a fun Valentine’s day! I am impressed with Clayton's playdough Noah, very cute. Also I agree with you about Noah looking grown up in that picture. I wish we got to see you guys more.
I can sympathize with you on the pillow thing. When I am pregnant it is so hard for me to get comfortable and I end up sleeping with a ton of pillows too. Sleeping is so much better when you aren't pregnant (and the baby starts sleeping through the night).

Super fun VD day!! And might I say, you boys do play rough, Clayton's face is bright red in the top picture!! Also, on Jon and Kate plus eight they made edible play dough, wich looked tasty, and you could play with it, just an idea!

I have been thinking about doing playdough. I don't know that I'm ready for the mess! I have to sleep with lots of pillows when I'm pregnant too!

How fun to do Valentine's Day with your kids. We never did that, which is probably why I've had to work myself into liking the day.

And how cute Justin let you sleep with The Wall! Little things like that are so nice. And I'm SO glad to hear Todd and I aren't the only ones who like to sleep in our own, alone, spaces.

CUTE! Chris says I have a pillow cacoon. I LOVE lots of pillows. The best are from IKEA. They're super soft and CHEAP!!

When I'm pregnant I make Chris sleep in this wierd position. Half on his belly half on his side, propped up with his knee. Then, I rest my belly on his back. He hates it and usually wakes up with a sore back, but I'm comfortable so he goes along with it. That's only when I'm pregnant though, any other time it's seperate sides!!!

you are so funny! pillows are a big topic of conversation with us too. Tony and I each have our own 2 pillows for under our head. Tony has to have a temperpedic ppillow... i have to have 2 smaller pillows. and we each have our own long body pillows for inbetween our legs. and sometimes tony steals pillows from trace cause he has 3 of them... we have tons of pillows in our house!! I can only imagine what your little girl will be like!! Ha!

It sounds like the Play-do was a great activity! I had to laugh when I read about the Berlin Wall. This has been an ongoing joke between me and Brian lately too! We will wake up in the morning with a pillow between us and I always tease him that he put up the Berlin Wall!

You guys are funny. I love it! Isn't it those little acts of service that are the best presents anyway? (Tom and I aren't huge sleeping cuddlers either). I'm kind of jealous that your girl is going to learn to be tough from her big bros. I'm pretty sure we're going to be raising a couple of wusses here! :)

Making playdough is so fun, and you're right, it does make a ton, and it lasts forever too! I love Claytons creations, very cool. I know it's kinda late in the pregnancy for this, but I got a boppy pillow (not the nursing kind, but the sleeping one) when I was pregnant, and absolutely loved it!
