Noah had quite the birthday celebration this year. It spanned two different Saturdays. It started the Saturday before his birthday. We had decided that, because of Justin's work schedule, we'd do his "party" the Saturday before his actual birthday. He had decided that he wanted to invite three friends and go bowling and out to lunch. (Side note - I LOVE doing "parties" this way. The kid gets a really fun and special day, and my house stays clean and I don't have to worry about entertaining a bunch of kids. I highly recommend this.)
When we woke up on the Saturday of the party, he asked me if we were going to have a special breakfast (read - muffins). I actually hadn't planned on it, but I had a mix in the pantry, so we went ahead with a special birthday breakfast, complete with candles and a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday".
Soon it was time for Justin and the boys to go to the bowling alley. Noah chose to invite Clayton (can I just say - again - how much I LOVE that my boys are best friends, it makes my mom heart so, so happy), and his friends Connor and Tannon.
Look at Pootie. Does that arm look funny to anyone else? Such a bendy kid!!
Haha! Check out that form!
Getting ready for go-cart racing!
After they were done at the bowling alley, the boys went to lunch at McDonalds (per the birthday boy's request) and then came back to our house for cake and ice cream and presents. His friends were very generous (especially since we'd forgotten to send out invites so his friend's moms ended up getting texts from me two days before - oops) and all the boys had a great time!
On his actual birthday, we did the traditional birthday breakfast (again) complete with the traditional first birthday gift - BIRTHDAY SHIRT! (Side note - this year, Justin worked all day on Noah's birthday and didn't get to see him. When he called to say happy birthday, Noah made a point of telling him about his super cool new birthday shirt. When I hear stuff like that, I'm so glad I make the effort to do this for all my kids every year!)
Here he is being silly in front of our birthday sign.
He's making a seven with his body.
Muffins, round two.
After breakfast had been cleaned up, he got another birthday gift.
A Beyblade battle arena. He and Clayton had a good time with that all morning!
Noah also got some money that he was itching to spend. Another one of our birthday traditions is to take the kid to Toys R Us to pick out their big birthday gift. They all look forward to it but I didn't want to do it this year. It was the Saturday after Thanksgiving and I would be taking all four kids to the store by myself. However, I couldn't say no to the birthday boy and I'm glad I didn't. First of all, it wasn't that bad, second of all he picked out Skylander's Swap Force. He'd been wanting it for a while. Turned out that he had just enough birthday money to get it. He was in heaven! Fastest Toys R Us trip EVER!
The boys played Skylanders all afternoon/evening until dinner. Per the birthday boy's request, we had mac 'n' cheese followed by birthday cake. The boys then played Skylanders until bed time (I let them stay up a little later than usual.
Overall, I think seven is off to a great start! Happy birthday Noah! I hope you enjoyed your special day(s)!!
