This was my view on Thanksgiving:
Pretty awesome if you ask me. Everything I'm most thankful for in this world all gathered around the table, eating a delicious meal together on fine china. Perfect.
Truthfully, our Thanksgiving plans changed at the last minute. We were supposed to go out of town, but that ended up not happening. It turned out okay though. We got to spend a relaxing day together, cooking, playing, watching the snow, and having a really good time - just us.
Because of our change of plans, we were able to go the day after Thanksgiving to cut down our Christmas tree. We went to a place called Butlers. We went there last year and loved it so much! It was even better this year (I thought)!
We started off with the little petting zoo. Sammie, our die hard animal lover, was so excited about this!
Josie was quite a snow bunny:
Then it was off to pick up our cart and saw. The kids loved dragging the cart around:
The weather was a little cold, but otherwise perfect! We were all really excited to be out in the post-storm snow, enjoying our time together.
Sammie was having the time of her little life!
Cutie Pootie:
Noah wasn't looking when Justin "timbered" the tree. So Justin did a re-creation.
Loading the tree on the cart:
We were disappointed because the sign outside of Santa's Workshop said that Santa wasn't going to be there for two more hours. We knew we weren't going to wait that long for him. It was sad, but the kids enjoyed taking pictures in his sleigh anyway:
Sammie does this lately in pictures (the big smile, head thrown back). I think it's funny:
Enjoying some hot cocoa while our tree was shaken and wrapped:
As we were loading the kids in the car - Santa showed up! He came early!! We were so excited! We hurried and unbuckled all the kids and ran to the line to see Santa. The three older kids were so happy that we didn't miss him after all:
Sammie, on the other hand, was very weary of Santa. She's our first and only kid to be afraid of Santa. I love this series of her with Santa:
Scared:
Confused:
Warming up:
Happy:
So glad we caught him!
When we got home we got to work setting up Christmas:
Josie got to put the star on the tree this year:
Little sneak:
This is her "I got caught" face:
The kids trimming the tree:
This picture makes me laugh. Apparently no one was ready (Josie's face is making me laugh so hard):
Better:
Ahhh, classic Sam (but I love this one):
This is my view of the front room right now. I love when my house is all decorated for Christmas!
Justin and I went to a very swanky holiday party for local doctors that was thrown by the corporation that owns the hospital. We got to dress up, eat really delicious (and fancy) food, enjoy a photo booth, and take home some yummy goodies. It made for a really great date night! Here's my favorites from the photo booth:
I made a new wreath for our front door. Pinterest ain't got nothin' on me:
Josie and I made a fun snack for our boys to enjoy after school. It's fun doing these little projects with her (even if she is kind of gross and licks everything along the way - good thing we were keeping these in the family):They were a big hit!
We are having a really fun holiday season so far and it's only the beginning of December! This is such a fun time of year, I'm so glad that I get to enjoy it with these people of mine!
