It had to be done...

So, not too long ago I posted about Noah's new hairdo. His hair was getting so long. Justin and I both liked it and wanted to just keep letting it grow. However, we had been trying and trying to find hairstyles for him that would showcase his gorgeous waves and curles and we kept coming up empty. Whenever we thought we had found a good style, it would only work once. If there were days that I didn't fix it (and even on a lot of the days that I did) Noah just looked like a homeless kid that nobody loved. I was getting frustrated with the looks I was getting from people whenever I was out with the boys. Looks that clearly said, 'I see you like the older kid much more than the younger one'.

Well, after church today I had had it!! I took my time fixing his hair today (which isn't easy with a two year old) but by the time we had gotten to church, he just looked homely again! AAAURGH! Justin and I decided that immediate action was necessary. So, after dinner tonight (and with a heavy heart) I cut Noah's hair. I should have taken a 'before' picture, but I didn't. This is basically what he looked like before (just picture it a little longer and a little wilder - toward the end I couldn't keep it flat to save my life):

I set up the movie Cars in the bathroom, stripped him down and went to town. He was surprisingly well behaved during the cut (I attribute that to McQueen). Watching all that gorgeous hair fall to the floor made me a little sad - even though I know it needed to be done. I ended up cutting off at LEAST an inch (no joke, this kid's hair was crazy long). After I was all done, I looked down and couldn't believe all the hair I'd cut off!
However, as much as it pained me and Justin (I was surprised at how much he liked Noah's long hair, he was the biggest advocate for keeping it long) I like how it turned out. It looks much better, will be MUCH more manageable, and Noah doesn't look neglected anymore! I know my sisters are going to be disappointed with the decision to cut, but you can go ahead and judge for yourself:

I do feel slightly relieved to have this done. I've known for a couple of weeks that it needed to happen, I just kept putting it off. Looking at it now though, I must admit that I do love it. Besides, with a face like his, he can pull off just about any cut and make it look adorable (although, maybe in the future I shouldn't let it get quite so long)!

Very cute. I love a boy with a fresh hair cut! He really does look adorable! Claire already had her first haircut at not even 5 weeks old because she totally had a receiding (sp?) hairline. Like you said, it had to be done!

He still looks so cute! I love the long hair too though! Love curls on boys!

I can see why it would have been hard to part with the curls, but the cut does look really cute on him. You did a great job - I'm totally impressed you can cut hair on a 2 year old that well. :-)

Now he doesn't look like some Hollywood starlet's son. Sad. :)

You did an excellent job cutting his hair! I'm really impressed.

It looks so cute! I went through the same struggle with Jett, but I came to the same conclusion, he constantly looked homeless and needed a haircut. You did a really good job, I didn't trust Jared or I to do it, so I took him to a friend that cuts hair. Do you cut Justin's and Clayton's hair too?

I love the heading to your blog! Noah is super cute no matter what his hair looks like or what he is wearing. Nice job on the cutting though...I'd never know it was a bathroom cut-

Noah looks so much older now, I can't believe it! We are facing the same situation right now with Bridger- I love it when his hair goes all curly in the back, but lately it looks more like a rat's nest. I need to cut it, but I know the curls will be gone forever once I do. Thanks for the courage to do what has to be done. . .
